Animal Milk Replacer
As a milk replacer Di-Vetelact Nutritional Milk fulfils the vital nutritional requirements of newborn pets that have been rejected, orphaned or early weaned.
It contains essential amino acids and fatty acids necessary to help with tissue growth and supplies vitamins and minerals in a purposeful nutrient profile to ensure infants reach their maximum potential.
Di-Vetelact Nutritional Milk is also beneficial as a support to mother's milk for non-thriving animals needing supplemental feeds.
Directions for Feeding
Dilution A
While introducing infants to milk replacer, start all small animals on Dilution A for the first 24 - 48 hours.
Dilution B
Once the small animal has established a feeding routine, gradually introduce Dilution B from 24-48 hours.
Weight of animal: Total daily feed volume
50g: Dilution A 15mL | Dilution B 10mL
100g: Dilution A 30mL | Dilution B 20mL
200g: Dilution A 60mL | Dilution B 40mL
500g: Dilution A 150mL | Dilution B 100mL
1kg: Dilution A 250mL | Dilution B 170mL
2kg: Dilution A 450mL | Dilution B 300mL
5kg: Dilution A 750mL | Dilution B 500mL
The daily feeding amount should be divided into equal portions for each feeding.
This is a general guide only. Most animals will take what they need.
Feeds per day until weaning commences
Rabbits: 3 > 2
Mice: 8 > 4
*> Move onto less frequent schedule until weaned
Weigh the animal daily to determine correct total daily feed volume. Take care not to overfeed.
If the animal develops loose stools, reduce to 3/4 strength of chosen dilution temporarily until resolved, then gradually increase. Do not increase the total daily feed volume. Consult your veterinarian for additional advice.
*All animals should receive their mother’s milk for at least 2 days, if possible. The early colostrum milk helps with immunity due to its high concentration of the antibodies IgA and IgG which protect against viruses and bacteria. If mother’s milk was not possible, speak to your vet about a colostrum supplement.
