Feeds per day
12 feeds per day for young infants
Gradually reduce feeds to approximately
8 feeds per day until weaning commences

Take care not to overfeed. Consult your veterinarian for additional advice.

If the foal develops loose stools, reduce to 3/4 strength of chosen dilution temporarily resolved, then gradually increase. Do not increase the total daily feed volume.

*All foals should receive their mother’s milk for at least 2 days, if possible. The early colostrum milk helps with immunity due to its high concentration of the antibodies IgA and IgG which protect against viruses and bacteria. If mare’s milk was not possible, speak to your vet about a suitable colostrum.
